Transformers! Summer Classes! Internship! And Shoe Series! Oh My!

Hey all, it's Nightstrike!

So to start it off. . .TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON!!! COMES OUT IN 28 DAYS EEEEEEEEEEE!!! Sorry. . . I had to have a my fan girl moment there. So, if you haven't noticed by now I kind of looking forward to this major event.

Hmm. . .  this week has been a long but very exciting week. Besides the fact, that last week was my first of my ten week course at Ivy Tech. The class I'm taking is Foundations ll. My teacher has decided to grace her Primus way cool talent of fabric dying. To say the least, I'm very excited and already enjoying the class. Were currently just learning about techniques and messing around to get a good idea on what to do for our final projects.

Another thing that I'm doing this summer, is interning at Wug Laku's Studio and Garage. Wug Laku is obviously the owner and make all kinds of neat little do dadds. . . I made up a word. XD! Wug Laku's Studio and Garage This place that he owns is a place where artist can come and work on their own projects. I believe that you can have a studio and a gallery, though the artist do have to rent out their own space. Any way I voluntary took up the internship, because I enjoyed it so much durning last semester. So what kind of tasks or stuff do you think I get to do here? To tell you the truth a lot. Nancy Lee, an artist who rents out a studio and a gallery is one of the artist that I help out with.

Nancy Lee, an artist who works with metal, is a hard work'en femme. (for those of you who don't know or don't worship Transformers like I do. . . For Primus sake, just google a word that is unfamiliar with yea.) She works with found objects, Sterling silver, and bronze in her work. She is known to etch and do all kinds of designs in the metal to add texture and other cool things. I am currently helping her out with getting stuff ready for 1st Friday. Today in fact, I helped out by taking apart old clocks and stuff for the gears. Every time I've helped her get the gears out, I'm so tempted to take one, but I know better. . .so instead I just drool and dream about having them.

Woot. . . That was a long paragraph. . . at least in my opinion. Moving On!

So I was in a portfolio class over the spring semester and I placed one of my pieces of art work in the show. "Spiketitious," was the very first piece of art work sold.

A guy named Jeffery G. Havens bought it. I was so happy that I've decided to continue on with a series that is related in materials and personal experience of my life to "Spiketitious."

I've started by collecting a lot of shoes, natural materials, and I've done some sketches. So far this is what I've come up with. As you can see I still have a lot to collect from out in the wilderness to have a variety of materials at hand.

As I'm starting on idea's that are in my head I've come up with a few ideas to go on how this should be made. For instance I want to make a shoe entirely out of the spiky balls and another shoe out of branches. So far these are the ideas that I have.

Spiky Balls

Branches

As you can see, I'm trying out different ways to go about my ideas. So far it's a slow, and experimenting process. From trying to weave the branches to making a log cabin effect with the sticks to make a sturdy base. Which of course I don't mind at all. So until next time folks. May Primus be with you.

Welcome to "The Art and Life of Nightstrike!"

First off I wish to welcome any and all who wish to follow me. This blog will mostly be about my weird outburst in life, but also my journey into my world of art.

Just to start, I'm a huge. . . And I mean HUGE fan of Transformers! I love everything about them, from their exotic cars to their mech forms. So in theory Nightstrike is actually my own Transformer that I have created. So therefor Nightstrike is in my title because she is also my alter ego in a way.

MOVING ON!

So my real name is Katie, but will being going by Nightstrike through my blog. Do I have any one confused yet. . . none. . . good. So I've lived in Indiana my whole life. That's a long time. I was born in Fishers, but after a few years it got to crowded so we moved. I now live in the open fields of Owen County. Primus I love it out here. I live almost in the middle of nowhere, just the way I like it.

So moving on again to what will happen in this transformation blog is that I will try to update once or twice what I've been doing durning the week. I will post about my projects for school and for my personal reasons. I will also have my random outburst on what is going on in the massive canvas of my mind. This could be ranging from my obsessiveness of transformers to the primus forsaken people who have the money to buy my future car. Which of course is a CAMARO BUMBLEBEE STYLE!!!!!

So I think that's about all that my little. . . wait I mean big brain can come out with for the post for today. I shall see or in this case typed to you all later. By the way. . . may Primus be with you!!
